Our SCSD schools have done a wonderful job honoring veterans as Veterans Day approaches.
From high school leadership visits to letters from elementary students, we are making our veterans feel appreciated.
On Friday, some very special celebrations were held at Mills Pond and St. °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Elementary schools. St. °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Elementary School Principal, Adam Javidi, held the school’s first “Gratitude Celebration,” inviting veterans who are family members, neighbors and friends of our students and staff. The veterans were treated to a breakfast courtesy of the school °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø, a visit from the Hofstra ROTC Color Guard and songs and poems from students.
At Mills Pond Elementary, Principal Ireen Westrack hosted the second annual, Mills Pond Veterans Parade. The veterans walked down a red carpet with their student relatives, were served a hot breakfast, were serenaded with patriotic songs from our students, received thank-you certificates and participated in a parade in front of the school!
