Students of the °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ¹ÙÍøHigh School West Orchestra and Music Department recently attended an open rehearsal of the New York Philharmonic. Students in attendance were treated to a varied program that featured an exciting new work entitled, Fountain of Youth, by Julia Wolfe, Four Last Songs by Richard Strauss featuring soloist Miah Persson and the tour de force of Symphony No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 82 by Jean Sibelius.

The philharmonic was flawless in their presentation and it was a truly outstanding performance of some awesome repertoire. High School West senior Nicholas Stallone stated, “The trip to the New York Philharmonic was an incredibly enriching experience that I was glad to have attended. Thank you to the New York Philharmonic for providing us with this extraordinary opportunity."

Following the rehearsal, all students traveled uptown to Carmine's Italian Restaurant for an exquisite lunch. As always, the food was delicious and a great time was had by all in attendance. High School West junior Cordelia Comando commented, “I can not wait for next year!"

High School West orchestra maestro, Joseph Cotignola Jr., added, "Thank you to the °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ¹ÙÍøSchool District for continued support. We look forward to providing many more experiences like this for our students in the future."
